Working Out

Hello Everyone! I know a lot of you out there are athletes and probably work out everyday. I am not one to go to the gym consistently. I would rather be outside playing a game with friends, hiking, kayaking, or fishing. I know that all of those activities are great, but I would feel better if I went to the gym more. Once I get to the gym, I don't mind it! The hard part is getting myself to actually go! Does anyone have some advice on how to get on a consistent gym schedule and not feel like it's a pain every time?

Kan Jam

Hello Everyone! This past Thursday, the P.E. department hosted the Play Day at Slippery Rock University. One of the popular activities was Kan Jam. I have seen people play this game, but I never got to learn it. As I was trying to learn the rules at Play Day, I found out that many people were telling me different scoring rules. I was wondering if anyone could clear that up for me. Is it an automatic win if you make the disc into the front slot? Is it 3 points for getting the disc into the can? Do you get a point for just hitting the can? Please help me out! Thanks.

Hiking at McConnells Mill State Park

Two weekends ago, I set off on a hiking trip with my uncle. We were on a mission to complete all 9 miles of trails at McConnells Mill State Park. These trails include the Alpha Pass, Hells Hollow, Kildoo, and Slippery Rock Gorge. The weather was perfect for hiking. It was around 45 degrees and cloudy. I would highly recommend these trails because of the true beauty. The Slippery Rock Gorge trail was the most difficult at 6.2 miles. There is steep terrain and a few switchbacks. If you want to do all 9 miles, give yourself plenty of time. These are not loop trails, so you need to have someone waiting for you at the end or have a car parked there. The trail was muddy in spots, so be sure to have proper hiking shoes. Pack plenty of water and a first aid kit too. I would not recommend the 9 mile hike for someone with a heart condition because of the terrain. If you have any questions about hiking at McConnells Mill, let me know!
